New members will encounter a welcoming atmosphere. The director provides a creative repertoire as well as encouraging and challenging rehearsal sessions. Rehearsals provide a balance to the workaday world by easing the burden of stressful days and lightening the hearts of those who participate. Rehearsals are enjoyable, filled with good humor and balanced by laser-like work in our process of making music. Participants depart from rehearsal vocally invigorated and refreshed. The Harford Choral Society has openings for all voice parts. To schedule an audition with the director, complete an email request below.

Rehearsals for Fall 2023 semester begin Monday, August 28, 2023 at 7:00 pm. If you want to sing with us, it's not too late to join!

Rehearsals are held at Harford Community College, Rm J112 (Joppa Hall 112). Joppa Hall is located at entrance #4 off of Thomas Run Rd.

Singers need not be trained vocalists, but are expected to be able to read music, and should be prepared for the following audition elements:

  • pitch-matching
  • a short prepared piece, such as an art song or aria, a hymn melody or other musical passage consistent with standard choral repertory
  • sight-reading of an extract from a choral score

I love singing with HCS.  My week just doesn't seem complete without a rehearsal practicing some of the best Choral music.

As a music educator and choir director I find singing in HCS very satisfying and fulfilling.  Choices of music are always good and our singers are the best!

Emily A

I truly enjoy the entire process. At the beginning of the semester we are introduced to new works and by concert time we are making beautiful music! It's a very rewarding experience.
