What vocal skills do I need?
Singers need not be trained vocalists, but are expected to be able to read music, and should be prepared for the following audition elements:
- pitch-matching
- a short prepared piece, such as an art song or aria, a hymn melody or other musical passage consistent with standard choral repertory
- sight-reading of an extract from a choral score
Where and when do I audition?
The Director holds auditions on Monday evenings prior to the regular 7:00 p.m. rehearsal time. Auditions are held at Harford Community College, Joppa Hall J112.
How often does the chorus perform?
We present two full concerts per season,as well as occasional smaller-scale runout performances. Recent repertory has included Handel's Messiah, Rutter's Gloria, Gabrieli's In ecclesiis, Mozart's Requiem, masses by Haydn, and Orff's Carmina burana as well as numerous smaller-scale pieces ranging from the 16th century to commissioned works.
